Train Like a Human

One of my passionate beliefs about fitness is that we should do most training standing up. We're humans, why are we lying down, sitting down, and leaning this way and that while training?

Benefits
Standing up

  • strengthens stomach, back, and hip muscles
  • improves balance
  • increases the connections between your body and your brain
  • increases your muscles' ability to use its strength, power, and stability in real situations

Use it:

If you currently use the bench press for most of your pushing movements, then do push-ups or standing military presses or dips.
If you sit down to work your leg muscles, grab something heavy to your chest and squat down.
If you lie down to do crunches, then grab a dumbbell or medicine ball and do wood chops.

What are some other variations of exercises that you can do with your feet on the ground?
